10 Fashion-ish Movies/ TV Shows to Watch

(photo cred - google images)

Hey guys, How was your Thanksgiving?
Well, I know that when I'm on Thanksgiving Break I always spend the Friday sleeping and feeling stuffed and content. But it's not much fun to just sit in your bed all break. I've made a list of ten rad movies and/or shows to watch while you're chilling out and enjoying your break... here's the list.
(They're also some of my all-time favorites -- and new favorites as well)

1. The Carrie Diaries - This is my favorite show right now, as a huge fan of Carrie Bradshaw, this shows what she was like as one of us... a stylish teenager with big hair and big boy problems.
2. Clueless - Okay, there is nobody who can understand my love for this movie, I mean it's seriously the best
3. The Devil Wears Prada - Kind of a classic nowadays, right?
4. Jane by Design - This was a show that is now discontinued, but it was on ABC family and it was perfect ahh, I miss it.
5. John Hughes Movies (Pretty In Pink, The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller's Day Off & Sixteen Candles) - You can forreal never ever go wrong with John Hughes movies -- Plus a Molly Ringwald mini marathon is never ever a bad thing.
6. Ru Paul's Drag Race - Everybody loves Ru Paul and you can seriously never ever go wrong with this
7. Heathers - Because Winona Ryder's outfits are exremely rad and I have a huuuge crush on JD (Did I mention that I wrote a mini-paper on him, classifying him as my favorite psychopath?)
8.  The Perks of Being A Wallflower - Because Emma Watson's outfits in that are extremely adorable, plus it's a really good adaptation of the book (but the books are always better in my opinon)
9. Sex and The City - I mean come on, it's the best.
10. The Great Gatsby - As much as I love Fitzgerald's writing (I really don't) -- The costuming in this movie is absolutely phenomenal I mean seriously the dresses and headpieces and everything is just stunning.

Bonus #11 -  Factory Girl -- It's about Edie Sedwick's relationships with Andy Warhol... It's just a really cool movie
Okay Extra Bonus - If you haven't watched it already, you need to watch Freaks and Geeks... it's not fashion-ey but it is seriously one of the best shows ever... and it features a young James Franco as the hot bad boy... hmmm....

Well, that's it, enjoy them!!

It's Thanksgiving!

(photo cred - polyvore -- a set I made that you can view here)
Ahhh, It's Thanksgiving. It's the time to be thankful for everything that you have, enjoy your family and friends, and the one time you can stuff your face full of food without anyone judging you because everybody else is doing the same exact thing.

The most stressful part of Thanksgiving is defenitely for the chefs in the house. They have to prepare all of the food, and make sure that everybody's favorites end up on the dinner table. The second hardest part, is choosing an appropriate outfit. (for me, personally at least)

I mean comfort is a huge thing, and in my years I've eaten Thanksgiving at very different places with different people. So, I've got one side of the family that's totally cool and you can wear whatever you want and nobody cares as long as you're not like naked or anything... but the other side, was a bit more specific my brother always had to wear a polo shirt and slacks and I wore a pretty dress... as I got older and started having dinner with different sides of the family, I started to wear like sweatpants to dinner and man, that was bliss.  So, my biggest issue for the past few thanksgivings were finding a happy medium

So, a great solution to this dressy vs. comfort issue is (drumroll please....)
LEGGINGS
(or jeggings if you'd like)
Leggings just open up a world of outfit possibilites. You can be extremely comfortable without looking frumpy or looking like you don't care.

Well, in the visual aid above -- You can do just about whatever you want with leggings like the options are virtually endless. Just be comfortable and have a lovely turkey day. I love you all, eat bunches of food & be safe in the snow (if you have any) :)

It's Oh So Cold

(photo cred - random photos from tumblr )

As Insane as it may sound, this is my absolute favorite time of the year.  I don't know why, but when it gets cold I get happier, I get calmer and my whole ora is just filled with hot chocolate and joy. I was just freezing cold (not literally) all day today so I realized it was time to make a post... a post about all of the cool things to do when it's cool.

Okay so, let's do this in list form... top 5 style?

Okay? Okay.

5. Socks
An excuse to buy all of the warm socks your mother will afford you. I seriously love socks and lucky for me, my mother is a sock enthusiast so she will get just as -- if not more excited than i do about socks so she totally understands my extreme need for them.

4. Hot Chocolate, Tea & Seasonal Flavorings of Coffee.
Holy guacamole I love warm drinks... I especially love making them myself and having them actually be all homemade and good. My favorite thing is peppermint and gingerbread flavored coffee flavors, they're absolutely fabulous oh my goodness. I especially love peppermint tea -- it just might be my favorite thing plus oh my gosh, don't get me started on chai tea, yeah it's just that good.

3. Sweaters
Christmas Sweaters, Striped Sweaters, Warm Sweaters I love them all. This is the time of the year when my mother likes to take me to goodwill and she lets me buy all of the sweaters I can carry.  I use the cold weater as my excuse for needing warmer sweaters to wear to school and other places. Sweaters are the absolute best, let me tell you. You can honestly never ever go wrong with wearing one.

2. The atmosphere
I don't know if you've noticed but when it gets colder, people are usually warmer, They're more focused on Christmas and being good citizens so that they won't get coal from Santa, they're not busy worrying about the stressful-ness of being an angst-ridden teenager in the twenty first century.

1.  Winter Break & Reading
Due to school and homework and socializing and just generally being a teenager from an 80's movie, I almost never actually have time to read for enjoyment. So, I usually utilize Thanksgiving Break to finish homework and projects, which leaves almost all of Winter Break for me to read as much as I like without any restrictions or consequences (except maybe my library fine).

So, yeah... Those are my top fives about Winter Weather (and winter in general kinda).
Until next time,

fashion staple?

(cat sweater - thrifted | shorts - goodwill? | button up - Burlington Coat Factory | purse - Rainbow Clothing)

*fun fact - the first picture was taken by my best friend's mom & one of the coolest ladies I've ever met... we were in a coffee shop in Brooklyn in April & the second was taken of my french friend, Allie, and I at a theater convention.*

You know that thing... that thing that people have that's just theirs?

The thing people have that kind of sets them apart from everybody else not necessarily because they're wearing it, but how they wear it or the memories that are set inside of the garment?
Well, Mine is my favorite lovely handy dandy cat sweater.
It's like my favorite thing ever and I wear it a lot. (I'm surprised I don't have that many pictures of me in it.. oh wait, they're all selfies!)
Okay so anyways, whenever I'm in doubt I always find myself going back to the cat sweater, I wore it on the first day of my first internship & everyone told me they loved it and thought it was adorable, I also wore it to New York and these rad twenty-somethings who worked in this secret sushi shop told me that they adored it... so it's kind of become my thing. my mantra basically is "When in doubt, cat sweater it out" .... and it usually works out for me! So, whatever you wear that's lovely and you is well... you and nobody can change that or take it away from you and it just becomes yours... y'know?
That lovely old cat sweater is mine... now go find yours!

Cool? Cool...

photo cred: sarah caplan  | button up: goodwill ; skirterall: goodwill ; doc martens: goodwill

Well, it's been a while, huh? I'm sorry I haven't posted in such a long time, I've been a bit busy lately with school and other things... you know the deal.

But, this weekend I took an ultra fab trip to Raleigh with school. It was extremely rad and I had a lovely time. During this time, I took a couple of shoots of my outfits.  This one I wore to a day of shopping, food, art & theatre. It was lovely... we went to a cute upscale thrift shop in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. I bought the cutest things(there will definitely be featured later) but the bottom line is, this is a cute outfit for Saturday shopping. I paired this with a pair of black tights and burgundy doc martens.

                                                                        Cool? Cool.

                                                                      until next time,
